BEAUTY WITHIN
The physical standard of beauty imposed by our society over the years has undoubtedly left a negative impact on many people.
Although our bodies have the potential to create the most beautiful miracles, we find ourselves clothed often in a blanket of shame and disgrace. Body imperfections becoming the common chatter in our head, and the reflection in the mirror begs for mercy as we scrutinize, agonize over flaws created by commercialized beauty standards.
This pressure is trying to make us be more like "them" (whoever that is) or fit a certain mold that is acceptable by society. Too often we see young ladies that are struggling with eating disorders and experiencing low self esteem, all because of the ridiculously high expectations that the world places on people.
Partially it goes back to how our DNA is programmed. It is understandable that humans, just like any other animals, instinctively look for the best mate in order to pass down their genes to the next generation. But this biological programming should dictate our conceptualization of beauty? It seems like we should have somehow evolved past that. But clearly we haven’t. And it seems like it’s worse than ever.
Our world is full of beautiful people. Just turn on the television, scroll through the media, social networking, peers or walk down the street - people are beautiful! In an instinctual sense, this simply indicates a quality that triggers the part of the brain that responds to pleasurable visual stimuli. However, in a more theoretical approach, by this definition, beauty could be absolutely any quality that pleases another person through sight.
The question is that if we were all meant to be the same... we would. We wouldn't have our unique quirks, appearance, or interests…and that would quite boring.
When we look at our physical appearance we should appreciate that no other human in the world is an exact replica of us. Our traits are uniquely crafted and our body is innately beautiful and does not need to fit a mold.
True beauty is a special combination of natural, learned, and cultivated qualities. There is no doubt that there is great value assigned to external beauty or symmetrical features, but beauty is also an expression and celebration of the inner self. To be truly beautiful, we must possess more than a pretty shell.
Beauty is to own a dignified grace and movement that harmonized with surrounding energy. To be strong and assured in who we are and to move gently in a noble manner. A cloud of mystery, strength and cleverness. Vulnerable yet self-assured.
Beauty is when we are self-loving and naturally possess a quiet confidence. Self-awareness, dedication to self-development and wisdom are very attractive features and very important factors for personal growth. True beauties understand exactly who they are, and they don't try to be someone else. They know their strengths and weaknesses and embrace their imperfections. They alone define themselves, regardless of opinions, trends, and pressures. True beauties are aware of who they are and love themselves unconditionally.
The most beautiful people do not just happen. They have known defeat, suffering, struggle, loss, and have found their way out of the depths. Therefore the inner strength leaded them to have a deep appreciation for life, a sensitivity and an understanding of creation that fills them with true beauty.
Beauty is also simplicity, gentleness and authenticity. Believe that the truth is the only path to success and the creation of a deep intimacy with life. Never to change based on who we are with. Each one of us is a treasure chest. Unique individuals that tend to gravitate around pure energy even when unaware of it.
Bravery also is an essential beautiful quality for a truly awesome people. The ability to make decisions and take measured risks are a crucial life skill. Beautiful people have the courage to face themselves and their deepest fears, knowing that they have them because they can learn from them.
We become more beautiful when we realize that we are who we are and our priority in our existence should be to feel happy and satisfied.
Human conditioning, society and religions have buried who we really are for centuries. Sometimes we see glimpses of the authentic self, but often we forget to acknowledge who we really are as beings. The authentic “I” is free from need for acceptance, attention, constant validation or approval from others. It is just the “I” at the core, where true beauty resides.
The question is: Do you have qualities of intelligence and understanding, humor and sparkle, charm and sympathy, strength and kindness, courage and integrity…and concludes, “So actually I am beautiful!”
In the manner of alchemy, all our qualities can transmute into physical beauty.
Take note of all your qualities, accomplishments and all your strengths. Recognize all the challenges you have gone through in life and acknowledge yourself how you have dealt with it.
Beauty is not just your face or your body; beauty is the glow in your heart, the exotic garden of your mind and the glowing essence of your soul. It is your inner beauty that has a lot to do with what you offer the world - having a direct impact on society and life you go about. It is about how you offer your talents, intelligence and knowledge by performing an act of kindness and compassion, gracefulness and empathy which is revealed by nothing else but your beautiful self.
True Beauty cannot be defined in one simple sentence. It varies from person to person - and no two definitions are exactly the same. What makes you different makes you beautiful. True beauty radiates and lights up the world with magnificence. Inspiring and empowering others and help them see what you already know.
If we look at our heart and passions, what get us fired up and inspired, we will realize that not everyone has the spirit for the same things as us. It is time to celebrate what makes our heart beat, and pursue our beautiful dreams and interests no matter what society says.
